The Lock Tavern will be one of the venues for this year’s Camden Rocks Festival. Headliners for us on the evening are bluesy London four-piece Filthy Whisky. Further live performances come from The Cramatics, Mixhell, Mellor, The Damn Jammage, Kerri Watt, Ocasan, Matt Mure and Cassius Blue.

Camden Rocks started in 2009 when promoter Chris McCormack felt there needed to be a showcase for the outstanding talent he saw coming through the clubs he was putting on in London. The first event was an outstanding success and after a few years break he decided to do it again, mixing established names with emerging talent all playing intimate venues to the most dedicated music lovers.

This coming bank holiday, SUNDAY BEST bound gleefully back to their favourite north London boozer for a night of ecstatic riddims and sun-bleached House music. But this time, the Sunday night party gets to continue on late through the night on BOTH floors of the pub in a rare Bank Holiday spectacular!

In an idiosyncratic line-up to rival the very finest of Sunday Best parties gone by, Rob da Bank has curated yet another monster rave-up to make sure no part of your body will be left unmoved by old skool beats, and no corner of your mind will be left unsoothed by beautiful Dance music.

Heading up the Hardcore contingent is da Bank himself, a man prepared at all times to dust off his cherished Jungle vinyl collection at the drop of a hat, when the big red phone starts to ring. Next up is Micky Finn whose work with Urban Shakedown on the 1991 classic ‘Some Justice’ alone places him proudly in the Hardcore hall of fame, not to mention his prolific ongoing career as a revered DJ and label boss of Finn People Productions. Next up is Liquid, the act responsible for the 1992 cross-over hit ‘Sweet Harmony’. If you have never had a moment listening/dancing to that track, do not fear, Liquid is here to quench your soul on this epic Bank Holiday extravaganza…

Taking things in a more blissful direction are glorious House new-comers Wayward, whose only two tracks in existence ‘Marvin’ and ‘Only Flaw’ recently propelled the duo from out of nowhere to the heady heights of blogosphere, and indeed further – landing in Annie Mac’s lap, who then made ‘Marvin’ her ‘Foundcloud’ track on BBC Radio 1. And talking of blogs, tastemakers Eton Messy are coming along to play the very warmest of their Future Bass findings, lovingly sourced from the farthest reaches of the Internet. Sunday Best also invite resident of Brixton Jamm, Nick Gabriel, to join them on the decks whose Deep House sounds will lull you even further into a summery dream state, whilst Sunday Best / Bestival resident DJs TYTHE, Sombrero Soundsystem and Little Chief will do what they always do, leave no musical stone unturned until you are up dancing on the tables, covered in Sambuca…

We’re making the most of the good weather here at The Lock Tavern this Bank Holiday Sunday by putting on the first of our Lock Summer Parties.

Kicking off in style, Hampshire teenagers Blaenavon will be playing live. The trio who released their debut single ‘Into The Night’ last month, craft fun, youthful guitar pop.

They will be joined by a host of DJ sets from Is Tropics, Childhood, and Wolf Alice alongside Fold Inn & Soul Foolish, and Cut Your Hair.

Originally a north London institution, Reggae Roast have been playing host to legendary parties across the UK for some years now. Regularly packing out their shows with guests such as Prince Fatty, The Heatwave and David ‘Ram Jam’ Rodigan. They’re taking this opportunity to bring it back to where it all started. A pub, with roasts, and reggae.

Whether you come for the amazing Sunday Dinner from the Lock Tavern’s gourmet Chef’s or the authentic Jerk Chicken Barbeque out in the sheltered Beer Garden or you fancy a cocktail on the Roof Terrace there is sure to be nuff amount a vibes all day long…..

REGGAE ROAST – Always representing the cutting edge of Dancehall vibes, Reggae Roast Head Honcho MOODIE RANKING, has dug out a ruffneck selection consisting of Conscious Roots, 80′s Digikal Dubplates & Righteous Rockers Rarites for all the Lock Tavern massive!

ADAM PRESCOTT – Combining a crucial selection of rough and tough Roots music with a modern injection of Dubstep & Steppas. With support and guidance from some of the biggest names in the scene, Adam has been making moves in the world of Dub & Dubstep for a while now working on original tunes with well-known and established artists.

VIBRATION LAB – Newest recruits to the Reggae Roast family, Vibration Lab, have been running tune all over the world spreading their own unique brand of Future Reggae music and we are pleased to finally get them down at Jamdown. With a heavy year of gigs & releases lined up you can expect some serious bass-weight and vibes from the dynamic duo.

And of course original Reggae Roast veteran JOE LICKSHOT will be present with a crucial selection alongside our ruff and ready MC’s

What is there still to be said about the legendary DJ Derek? One of the most popular and highly regarded selectors in the game, his selections of rocksteady, dancehall, reggae and ska have made him an icon. Our favourite East Anglian upsettah’s Get Low will be hosting the afternoon and providing a full supporting line up of DJs.

DJ Derek has been in the game for so long he makes Rodigan look like a spring chicken. The 76 year old Bristolian has become a cherished figure amongst UK clubbers with his trademark blend of soul, reggae, funk and whatever else he has recorded on his mini disc. His legendary Patois on the mic is a sight to behold, especially in the intimate surrounding of the Lock Tavern. Seriously not one to be missed!

★ KLOSE ONE (Urban Nerds/ATG) ★

Klose One is recognised as one of the best DJs on the London scene, and will be making his Lock Tavern debut with a set that promises everything from Jungle and Grime to Funk and Hip Hop. Fitting our anything goes Sunday policy perfectly, we’re very excited to get another act of this calibre down for the show.

★ MOXIE (Deviation/ATG) ★

Moxie’s sound DJ skills and impeccable selection has seen her steadily rise in recognition amongst the legions of up and coming UK DJs. One half of Deviation alongide Benji B and regular contributor to the rabble rousing ATG collective, a superb warm up set on the Swamp 81 takeover of the Moat Stage at Outlook Festival was one of the best Get Low has witnessed, and her recent inclusion in Time Out’s “DJ Stars of 2012″ highlights her increasing reputation as one to watch.

Member of the irrepresible Better Never Than Late crew and a DJ after our own heart, Timzed’s wily and knowing blend of classics and new UK cuts is a pleasure to behold. He is one we’ve been trying to get on a show for some time, and are excited to get him down on a line-up already bulging with talent.

Blank Maps are one of the more interesting bands to be emerging at the moment, with their sometimes glacial, often danceable brand of indie rock setting them apart from most. With a great line up of support and DJs this will be an excellent evening.

Fans of soul, boogie, funk and discoare in store for a great evening of groove. Larry Sun takes over The Locktavern from 8-1am on Saturday 3rd March with “Soul Foolish”. Right on.
