Idle Fret are back after January’s packed out Snowgoose show, with the launch party for Mary Epworth’s new album Dream Life. Her first single of 2012 Black Doe was single of the week on Shaun Keaveny’s breakfast show on BBC 6 Music. She’ll be joined by Liverpool’s Ratty Little Fingers, who make vivacious upbeat folky country pop with their violin and banjo melodies, a box for a bass drum, a chocolate tin for a snare and full size double bass. Hella Better Dancer bring their delicate serene folky shoegaze sound to our intimate home.
This Friday our weekly club night, New Look, is being taken over by the most exciting bands around town, not that we’re biased! The O Children boys are becoming firm favourites on the New Look dancefloor, with their all-night, all-encompassing party sets, and rockstar looks! The band formed in 2008 over a mutual love of Nick Cave, and have since gone on to share a stage with Esser, Wild Beasts and The xx, to name but a few. They smashed it last time they were behind our decks, expect another riotous Friday night party once again!

We’re really excited to see Rodney Smith aka Roots Manuva on the Beacons line-up this year. Following the release of last year’s 4everrevolution – his most powerful work since Run Come Save Me – the UK hip-hop legend will be bringing his innovative sound to the Yorkshire countryside this summer. And one of UK hip-hop’s rising stars will also be playing. The Mercury Music Prize-nominated Ghostpoet will be laying down his laconic beats and baritone drawl and you’ll get the chance to see why Factory Floor have made a fan of Joy Division / New Order’s Stephen Morris and had the likes of Pitchfork and Quietus touting them for bigger things.
Sheltered are back at the Lock for another special all-day event, following the success of the previous show with Metronomy’s Olugbenga. This time around they’ve brought along 3 unique bands who we’re really excited to showcase in the intimate surroundings of our small disco.

Fiction are a four-piece band from London, formed in 2009. Members Mike Barrett (vocals, keys, drums), James Howard (vocals, guitars, drums), David Miller (vocals, bass) and Nick Barrett (guitars) coalesce to create what has been described as ‘perfect, anarchic pop’. They have recently toured with Warpaint, Klaxons and Metronomy and have recorded live sessions for BBC Radio 1, BBC 6Music, XFM and Diesel Radio.

Taking influence from the likes of XTC, Four Brothers, Talking Heads, Owls and Steve Reich; Loose Talk Costs Lives present a diverse form of popular music. James Rapson (guitars and vocals), Ollie Route (guitars), Tim Clay (keyboards), Liam Klimek (bass) and Greg Round (drums) all met whilst studying at University in Leeds before forming at the start of 2010. Since then the band have supported such acts as Two Door Cinema Club, Wild Beasts, Maps & Atlases and Good Shoes around the UK.

Launching at the beginning of January this year, Ivory Seas played their debut gig at the ‘*Artrocker New Blood Festival*’. The band take an infectiously rhythmical and humanistic approach to their songs which can be heard in the new video accompanying their first single ‘*Boundary*’. The band are heading back into the studio in early this March to record their debut EP with producer Richard Formby (Wild Beasts/Egyptian Hip Hop).

This February we’re proud to have 44 host their first ever all-dayer, celebrating the occasion with some fine guests. They’ve pulled out the stops to brought along one of our favourite producers, who DJ sets are always a disco treat, Psychemagik. Joining them are Keymono, who will no doubt rock the Lock Tavern stage with a special DJ set.

In hot pursuit Mister Sushi and Roxanne Roll, the latter half a queen of disco delight whilst the former promises a special 80′s set that’ll most likely straddle both debatable and classic.

Elsewhere, making their 44 debut Leo the Amateur and G the P. No strangers to the inner workings of rocking a party. Warming up proceedings will be a long term family friend and the man behind Camden’s Rockit Science parties, DJ Ryu who’ll be bring along his sometime DJ partner Collins 303. Sporting a fine body of musical treasures, their set is bound to get us hot under the collar.
